Interview:

Music is the secret language of God! It is mysterious, soothing, remorseful, healing, soul-searching, glorifying, humbling, powerful, vulnerable, beautiful, and satisfying. Martin Luther once said: “Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world”. I think we are right about the beauty of creation; the beauty and mystery of how creation reacts, and thus the music of our hearts is written throughout the ages. As far back as David playing soothing melodies for kings to the writers of today: music is the balm that represents all the emotions that we deal with in life. As Christians we are the ones that sometimes limit music’s power; the power lies within using music to its foremost potential in writing about life, love, and the Good News, but not necessarily altogether or in every song. “August Rush” is a beautiful new movie that exemplifies all that I am talking about when he says “he followed the music”. This is a specific charge God gives us as Christians, especially when we recognize the Giver who gave us the song.
