Interview:
THE ENERGY BETWEEN THE NOTES
Everything in the universe is made up of energy. The only difference between anything is the frequency that it vibrates at. Therefore, we are all connected; we are all innately spiritual, whether we think so or not. Everything in life has a rhythm; the universe has a rhythm, planets have rhythm, and our bodies have rhythm. That rhythm has an ebb and flow, which can be affected by our state. Music, in my opinion, acts like a conductor for our feelings, emotions and, in fact, our lives. Music has been a part of every aspect of spirituality in all cultures throughout the world, whether that is religious or an innate sense of spirituality. Music provides for us an instant connection to something bigger and greater than us: something that links us back to our ancestors, to a time and place, to a feeling of love, comfort, and belonging. It drives self-acceptance and contentment. Music is a very powerful force in the universe. It can heal us, it can calm a wild beast, and it can cause us to have great reflection to the point of changing and improving our lives. When it comes down to it, ideally, that is what spirituality is about: improving the state of your fellow human being, yourself, and the community at large. Nothing crosses language and culture barriers like music.
“Nothing crosses language and culture barriers like music. Therefore, music, above all other arts, has the power to unite humankind more effectively in joy, love, understanding, friendship, rhythm, and spirituality.”
