Interview:

Ephesians 5:17-19
17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.
19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.

1 Samuel 16:23
23 Whenever the spirit from God came upon Saul, David would take his harp and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.

As we can see from these scriptures: music is very powerful. I am also reminded of the story when the Israel army used singers to go before them in battle. This was a powerful strategy that would set a trend for our own customs and culture. We go to church and sing we are winning a victory unbeknown. Music is effective at many levels; one of those levels is the subconscious. I don’t think we can ever fathom the great affect music has on our souls. Music first influences our emotions and then our intellect. In order for us to be balanced in life, all facets of our being need to be addressed. Music is powerful in addressing many aspects that other art forms are incapable of reaching. In fact, I would go so far as to say that music is more powerful than a movie in it’s influence. There is something unique about sitting alone in your quiet place, listening to a good piece of music, with no visuals, only your mind being allowed to wonder and contemplate life. Music can even be used to educate and shape societies. I believe that if you unite people in song, victory is inevitable.
