Music has the ability to reach far inside of us, altering our feelings and emotions. From the church choirs that swell their minions hearts with faith and security, to ancient war drums that would instill courage, strength, and pride in the hearts of doomed warriors. There is a call on the inner soul to connect with music. This is why a sad man is comforted by the Blues, or an angry man is soothed from raging Metal. Music is an outside flow of emotions that we can all be touched by. It can instill pride in a nation, unite primitive tribes, connect people and their gods, and has changed the world. Music can bring people together, and can rip them apart. These are things that we have all felt at one time or another. I believe everyone can relate to at least one song that is strong enough to grab your guts and pull them hard. Music is absolutely vital to the soul.

My definition of the spiritual significance of music would be a personal understanding of what one would value in your own private thoughts, and what role music plays in it. I personally find a release in playing music, although not always. There are times when the planets are in sync, and it’s just a blast to play. Sometimes not, but there can be a spiritual feeling from that. For me it has really nothing to do with religion. There is a lot of music that affects my life, not always the music that we play, and music does play a larger role than some people give it credit, even me.
