Music, for as long as it’s been around, has been used as an expression of peoples’ thoughts and feelings in a way that is both moving and memorable. God spoke through the words of psalmists and prophets in the Bible, and continues to do so today through contemporary musicians and their music. For us to ignore the passion, intensity, and fire of the messages coming from today’s Christian musicians is to ignore a unique and vital dimension of God’s dialogue with His people. Music can also draw people into a time of stillness and reflection, where God is more able to speak to us. I believe He uses music to communicate on many levels to His people who are willing to listen.
