Interview:
St. Augustine emphasized worship and especially worship through music. Everywhere in scripture music is shown to be a communication tool that God has given to man, both through voice and instruments to glorify God with. The musicians would lead in the Old Testament the troops of Israel into battle. David, through his music would worship the Lord and calm the troubled spirit of Saul. Spiritual songs and hymns in Ephesians is a part of walking in the spirit. The Augustine’s over the years found more and more ways to worship God and created the pipe organ, which was a precursor even to scientific development that helped to bring on the industrial revolution as they began to use steam to drive engines. This says to me that music is meant to inspire creativity. Music is today a powerful voice of communication that can be used to communicate our testimony to the life of Jesus. Music can be our witness to those who do not know Him.
