Interview:
“ART AND MUSIC AS A TOOL OF LOVE AND FORGIVENESS”
Art and music can help transform the capacity to love and forgive by enabling us to connect with others, particularly with music. When we’re making music together there’s a synergy that happens. There is a connection that occurs, and it requires communication skills. We need to listen to the other person; we need to be listening to ourselves, and allowing each one of those voices to be expressed.
The other way that music can transform the capacity to love and forgive is that it helps us deal with the unspeakable—deal with difficult emotions ,because music and art go beyond the intellect and connect us to a higher state of mind. It’s really at our deepest level, our soul, and when we touch that space and we create from that space, it is empowering and can be true, true healing.
When we connect to the essence of our being, we are in service to art and in service to the creation. Instead of being the creator, when we allow the creation to come through us and we express it, then we are a true expression of the divine. Each and every one of our voices is different; yet together they form a unified whole, and they come from a unified whole.
When we use art or music from that place in our souls, it enables us to communicate something much more powerful, much more creative than our cognitive minds are able to communicate. It empowers us, it empowers other people, we get along better with people and we can find solutions to all kinds of problems.
I’m not perfect, and that’s one of the ways that my creative life has transformed my world, in helping me have more confidence, helping me feel valued and valuable just as I am, imperfectly perfectly me. My creative life has connected me to my inner truth, to that place that’s beyond my mind. If I just go with my mind, oh, boy, that’s not a pretty story! There’s a lot of negativity there. Yet connecting to the essence of my creativity and being an instrument of that creativity and expressing that through my voice, has enabled me to develop self-confidence and an ability to express that spark of the divine in the world. This has also enabled me to connect with other people in a way that I would not be able to do if I were just speaking from my intellect or my cognitive mind.
I wish you great, great joy and fulfilment in using art and music as a means for love and forgiveness in your world. Your voice truly makes a difference.
