Interview:

The spiritual significance of music is probably different for every individual. Every single human mind is unique, so every individual will feel various things, and react differently when they listen to music. Like most music-lovers, there are many pieces of music I’ve heard throughout my life that have made a deep impact on my “spirit”. I listen to different types of music depending upon my mood; again, I think most people who love music have this in common. Music can express emotions and ideas that would be otherwise impossible to describe, things that are ineffable. I think that although the languages of the world can often do an excellent job conveying what a person is feeling, music can go places that words alone cannot. Some people aren’t particularly eloquent with words, but they may be able to express themselves very well with music. It’s possible that a well-composed piece of music could better describe the emotions in a person’s mind than words ever could. Music written and performed with sincerity can have an extremely powerful mental effect on the listener. Great music like this is transcendent, and the experience is difficult to describe. I could go in circles with words trying to explain this, but that would be a waste of time. If you truly love music, you already know its power.
