Interview:
Each of the many interpretations of Johann Sebastian Bach’s “The Well-Tempered Clavier”, Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ In The Wind”, or Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “My Favorite Things”, is unmistakably what it is. The identity of each piece will remain intact through an infinite possibility of interpretations. Forever. No matter who plays it, the size of the ensemble, what instruments they use, what key they play it in, or the tempo. Even John Cage’s chancedetermined compositions have rules that are forever unchanging. Music is a completely formal art, which enraptures in the very moments we experience it, and in our memories of those moments. My experience of music is the most convincing teleological proof of something infinite, powerful, and beautiful.
