Interview:
Music is a form of art, and I believe creating, experiencing, and performing art is both a physical and spiritual process. We sense the art of sound physically, but the beauty and the meaning can affect us spiritually. Different art forms speak differently to different people, and I have always been drawn to music more than any other art. Appreciating the beauty in a piece of music can at times be very emotional, and it also opens your spirit to the message of the artist, composer, and lyricist. I believe that the ability to create and enjoy music is a gift from God. As an artist I feel a responsibility to use this gift to spread a positive message, be it simply to enjoy the beauty of the music or something deeper. From my perspective, a message drawing you closer to God is positive, whereas a message drawing you away from God is negative. My point is that opening up to the beauty in music can also open us up to other spiritual influences. Music can potentially bring us closer to God and that is very significant in my mind! I’m of course biased being in a Metal band myself, but I do believe that the combination of music and lyrics in a song is the most powerful form of art to bring a spiritual message across, positive, or negative.
