Interview:
Music is an incredible phenomenon that has a history beyond what I can comprehend. It moves you, it helps to heal you, it makes you laugh, it makes you move, it makes you cry, and it makes you remember. The thing about music is that it always engenders a response. Whether you like the style or not, whether you agree with the message or not. The response that different people experience proves just how powerful music is. It reaches deeper than skin level, it somehow nags at the inner self to see what you will say. It creates conversation with like-minded and not so like-minded people. We have this vast and multi-cultural world of which there is music specific to culture, whether it is traditional or contemporary. Over the years, the world has discovered how to communicate with each other more, whether it is through various types of media, or even traveling to different locations around the world. With this development in media and travel, we have been able to share our cultures and in turn our music with the world. It’s as though music has become a universal language that everyone somehow understands. The lyrics to a song may be in a different language but you can somehow capture the heart of it. I must say it’s odd and sometimes it does weird me out in a good way. Ilove that God has created something so indescribably complex, and yet it’s so simple. Music is such a beautiful gift, and I’m so thankful we can access that gift everyday.
