Interview:
Music is the universal language of the soul. People who speak another language can relate to a song being played by someone from another country with lyrics that they don’t understand. If not the lyrics they can usually make a connection with the music. Music is a gift from God, it can and should be used for praise and worship to Him, as well as for out reach and fishing as “Fishers of Men” [Matthew 4:19 & Mark 1:17]. The old saying that “music soothes the savage beast” is confirmed by Biblical scripture in 1 Samuel 16:14-23. In summary, it says “Whenever the [evil] spirit from God came upon Saul, David would take his harp and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him” [1 Samuel 16:23]. I have played many unrehearsed gigs with strangers. By listening close and watching for visual cues, such as guitar gestures, and eye contact, we were all aware of a change coming or not. I often felt that I was spiritually in tune with someone I had not yet met, shook hands with, or even spoken to.
